Emacs Hates Markdown

It irks me that the first search result for “emacs markdown mode” is a todo list that includes a “someday I’ll make a markdown.el” item. Grumble grumble.
It irks me that the first search result for “emacs markdown mode” is a todo list that includes a “someday I’ll make a markdown.el” item. Grumble grumble.
I’ll try to get farther along on markdown.el on the bus on the way to work this morning. :)
A rough status update: I have some halfway-decent syntax highlighting, M-; DTRT, and I’m trying to mangle footnote-mode into working with markdown-style footnote-links.
