Freebase Caffeine

I should not have seen this (via. BoingBoing. I especially love how much time (about half the video) the creator spends elaborating on why freebase caffeine is “completely legal”.

Note: This post should not be interpreted as suggesting that freebasing caffeine is a Good Thing To Do. If you want caffeine I suggest you consume it like a normal person: drink far too much coffee.

Consumeritis

I’m a longtime fan of Consumer Reports and a big proponent of sticking up for your own rights when it comes to interactions with various retailers, service providers, etc. I like The Consumerist a lot too – they provide nice real world tips for negotiating problematic situations as a purchaser of goods. Sometimes, however, their insistence on restitution for being inconvenienced seems a little too much like advocating feeling overly entitled:

… the Zune Dock (a 100 dollar product) is certainly moving in the right direction. (source)

I’m all for demanding a refund or repair but insisting that a business has not done right by you unless they throw some extra money your way goes too far.
